901 McKee St. is a mixed-use urban infill project located in Houston, Texas. This project is an opportunity to explore an expanded role of the architect. By serving as both developer and architect, the specificities of the site dictate how the project functions programmatically, aesthetically, urbanistically, and financially.
The intersection of I-10, I-45, and I-69 form Houston’s central business district. The site is located just north of downtown in Houston’s historic Warehouse District. The Warehouse District is a small but thriving area with restaurants, offices, condos, art studios/galleries, and concert venues all within a short walk. The nearby light rail station provides the area with mass transit.
